Q:

How do you appeal when an application is denied?

A: Too many people believe their case is over once the Social Security Administration denies their claim.  Many people who are initially denied are approved for Social Security Disability later on.  When an application is denied, the claimant has 60 days to file a Reconsideration.  This can be done online at www.ssa.gov, over the telephone by calling 1-800-772-1213, or by traveling to the local office and filing a Reconsideration in person.  You must submit the following forms, found in the Library section of our website, to your local SSA office:  SSA-827, SSA-561 and SSA-3441.
